There is no need to elevate the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) to be on par with the national education system until the former is reformed to meet national aspirations, said Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan.

“As a sovereign nation, our education system must meet national aspirations. It must be premised on national mission, values, interests, and ambitions.

It's not made to inculcate national identity, he says.

Actually there is no need to push for UEC recognition. Student with UEC qualification has been thriving and even without the “recognition “ one does not guarantee any slot in the quota for majority system. Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. “Mark Twain”
