DAP’s ultimatum
It’s becoming more evident that DAP’s six-month deadline for reforms is an ultimatum.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party won’t withdraw support from Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
However, he gave a strong indication that DAP would resign from its government posts if the deadline is not met.
While Anwar will remain in power, a DAP exit in June next year will still be a major blow to the prime minister, who is already struggling to keep hold of his non-Malay support base.
The timing is especially bad, as there is strong speculation that Anwar will call for a general election in early 2027, giving him less than 12 months to win back DAP and its support.
Meanwhile, Loke said the government will introduce a new language policy within the DAP’s timeline - and this includes recognition for the UEC, a key demand among the party’s Chinese supporters.

Johor royals’ new business: Crypto
The Johor royal family is wading into the cryptocurrency with the launch of a stablecoin dubbed RMJDT.
RMJDT - launched by a company owned and chaired by Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim - will be pegged against the ringgit.
It will be issued on Zetrix, a blockchain developed by Malaysian company Zetrix AI Bhd – formerly known as MYEG Services Bhd.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing, Zetrix said RMJDT will be under a regulated sandbox framework and designed to strengthen the international use of the Malaysian ringgit in cross-border trade settlements.
