First the army. Then the police. Last month it was the local enforcement agencies. Today it is the ACA.

One by one our boys in uniform have been taken down a peg or two by their own sheer ineptitude. One wonders who (or what) is going to be next, and whether there actually is any security left in this country.

Hallo, mister! The arms raid by the Al-Ma'unah, escape of a handcuffed detainee from a police car, shooting of a pregnant woman, assault of a shop assistant and theft from the ACA safe... all these don't do much to instil confidence in our figures of authority. You know or not?

What makes it more vexing is, no intelligent explanation or follow-up has been offered after each incident. Instead, we get another idiotic talking head foaming at the mouth pledging that "this will not happen again".

Well, as my Indian neighbour next door would say, Poodah chi.

Big talk, no substance. If not, then how come it happens again and again like a broken record?

There's been so much hot air already to float the Titanic. So I say enough of this. It's time to put boot marks on some butts and let the heads roll.

It's time the authorities lived up to their calling and regain control of their much-maligned reputations. Get the responsible officers to own up in public, and then sack their bungling personnel.
