Police launch probe into UTM trainee's death
Police have launched an investigation into the death of a Johor university student during a Reserve Officers Training Unit (Rotu) exercise in Ulu Tiram, Johor last week.
According to Johor deputy police chief Abdul Latiff Mehat, the case is classified as a sudden death, but he stressed that police would leave no stone unturned.

"...the investigation will be carried out thoroughly. Police are taking several actions, including recording statements from witnesses and doctors.
"We will inform (the press) when there is an update on the probe," he told Malaysiakini.
Latiff confirmed that police have received two reports regarding the July 28 incident, one from an Army officer on the day of the incident, while the other was lodged by the victim's mother yesterday.
Earlier today, Malaysiakini reported that Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) student Haris Samsudin had died during a Rotu shooting exercise.
His mother Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun lodged a police report after discovering Haris' body bearing what she described as severe bruises, wounds resembling gunshot injuries, and blood seepage.
She suspected that her son had been murdered and urged authorities to launch a full investigation.
