Israel's attack on Iran shows true aim to derail diplomacy: Takiyuddin
Summary
Takiyuddin brands Israel’s attack on Iran an attempt to disrupt diplomatic solutions for the Middle East conflict.
The PAS sec-gen states that the attack reveals Israel’s ambition for regional dominance, potentially leading to wider global conflict and economic consequences.
He urges the Malaysian government to take a firm stance against Israel’s actions, calling for a regional and global response for peace.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has strongly condemned Israel’s recent assault on Iran, describing it as a deliberate attempt to sabotage all efforts toward a diplomatic resolution of the ongoing Middle East conflict.
In a statement today, Takiyuddin warned that the latest aggression risks escalating tensions in the region while exposing Israel’s hegemonic ambitions.
“This attack not only worsens an already volatile situation, but clearly reveals Israel’s intention to undermine all diplomatic initiatives,” he said.
According to reports, the early Friday morning strikes were carried out by the Israeli Defence Forces and its intelligence agency, Mossad.
The targets included nuclear facilities, the homes of senior military leaders, scientists, nuclear experts, as well as military bases and installations.
Israeli sources reportedly confirmed five waves of attacks involving hundreds of strikes across at least eight cities – including Tehran, Tabriz, Kermanshah, Natanz, Arak, Ilam, Isfahan and Ahvaz.
Among the casualties reportedly killed in the strikes were Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Hossein Salami, senior IRGC commander Gholam Ali Rashid, and Ali Shamkhani, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Denounce Israel’s actions
Takiyuddin said the incident was the latest in a pattern of increasingly aggressive actions by Israel since its offensive on Gaza began on Oct 7, 2023.

“It is evident that Israel seeks to eliminate all its challengers in order to cement its regional dominance – with Iran now being its main target after others were neutralised,” he said.
“This includes carrying out assassinations of key individuals, whether military or civilian, from rival nations who are perceived as a threat to Israel.”
The Kota Bharu MP urged all peace-loving nations to denounce Israel’s actions and reject what he described as illegal and violent measures that contravene international consensus.
“If left unchecked, these actions could plunge the world into a wider conflict, with devastating consequences for global trade and the economy,” he said.
Takiyuddin also called on the federal government to issue a firm and unequivocal response.
“Putrajaya must take a clear stance on this issue and leverage Malaysia’s position as Asean chair to mobilise and champion a regional response aimed at de-escalating the conflict,” he said.
He added that Malaysia should also strengthen its voice on the global stage through the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Commonwealth to push for peace.
On Friday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who raised Malaysia’s condemnation, called on Israel’s partners to apply maximum pressure to halt further aggression in the wake of Israeli military strikes on Iran.
