I fully support Jason Chan's letter on how threats are utilised to suppress the minority groups ([#1]When 'proper channel' begets threats[/#], Jan 23). The Chinese no longer pose a threat to the majority and they now form less than half of the majority, why then are the Chinese constantly used as scapegoats?

Threats show how childish these proponents are in their quest to push forward their goals. Is this the climate that is to be established to encourage people, foreign and local, to invest and do business in? Is this the climate that our future generations will want to live and grow up in?

Something is seriously not quite right with the way society is being forcibly engineered to prosper a few and not improve the standard of living for the masses. The proponents of the threats seriously need counselling and their acts amount to bullying.

How are we to achieve developed nation status when voices are not allowed to be heard in the face of coercion? It is sad that these proponents are also motivated by jealousy and conceit. Threats, witch-hunts and frame-ups - isn't there time to do an honest, decent day's work?
