Seeing shadows everywhere

The Sun had this big headline a few days back: "Report corrupt police to the ministry: DPM". But who do we report corrupt ministers to? The police or the ACA? Have a survey on public trust for the ministers, ministry officials, the Economic Planning Unit, police, customs, forestry, judiciary and even the big corporations and it'll come as a surprise to me if any of them can obtain a 15 percent vote.
Sandiwara has become a catchphrase of late that for anyone following the goings-on in the country. We tend to look for the double meaning of every action, newspaper report or speech. The questions that will always pop up are: What are they hiding this time? What will the next lie be?
Generally, the people don't even know true from false any more, nor facts from rumours. The psy-war and disinformation methods employed by certain quarters are creating mistrust, confusion and disharmony in the society.
How are we going to push up into higher gear towards Vision 2020, when we don't even know whom to trust, when we are suspicious of the people leading us, when the system we bank on showing cracks and flaws in execution, though it may appear solid on paper. When the ikan bilis (small fry) caught are frontpaged on dailies and the jerung (sharks) are left to savour everything at will.
