Another Rafizi ally falls in PKR division polls

Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasrullah Nasir has been ousted as the division’s PKR chief.
He is the latest PKR leader aligned to deputy president Rafizi Ramli to have been defeated in the polls thus far.
The deputy energy transition and water transformation minister secured 587 votes and lost to former Johor Bahru PKR Youth chief Taufiq Ismail, who had 709 votes.
Yesterday, incumbent PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad - also aligned to Rafizi - lost his post as Setiawangsa party chief.
Others who previously contested as part of Rafizi’s team for central posts in the 2022 PKR elections and lost at the current division polls include Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail, Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung, and Pantai Jerejak assemblyperson Fahmi Zainol.
Allies who have made the cut thus far are Tanjong Malim MP Chang Lih Kang, who won uncontested in Tanjung Malim, and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.
Rafizi himself won uncontested in Pandan.
The outcome of the PKR division polls is being disputed, and the party’s central leadership council will meet on Wednesday to discuss alleged irregularities.
Elsewhere in Johor, Maszlee Malik remained Simpang Renggam division chief with barely 40 percent of votes in a three-cornered fight.
Meanwhile, in Tebrau, underdog M Prakash bested two lawmakers - Segamat MP R Yuneswaran and Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah - in a tight race, bagging just 37.5 percent of votes.
Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh won uncontested in his division.
