Well, well, to think we could peacefully hold a public gathering even if the speeches are "political" after all. I am referring to the restraints by police at the Keadilan Hari Raya celebration aka "100,000 People's Gathering II" last weekend. Gosh, we were pretty civilised, were we not? Which just shows that police should stop doing this Rambo-style thing when it concerns our fundamental liberty to gather peacefully.

But still there is more room for change. The police and the Home Affairs Deputy Minister should refrain from construing any activity that is not Umno-sponsored as "political". Remember the lack of police presence at the Umno Youth-sponsored near-riot over Suqiu outside the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall last year?

And anyway, what is political? Why, even the rising price of chicken could be political. If concerned citizens want to save the nation from continued corruption or cronyism, I would say that is being patriotic, don't you think?

We do not want our country "going to the dogs". And lest I be misunderstood, that last phrase is a figure of speech.
