Massive gas pipeline fire in Puchong
A gas pipeline in Putra Heights, Selangor, caught fire this morning, causing a huge raging blaze visible from several kilometres away.

The department has dispatched firefighters to the scene.
According to the initial FRD report, the fire was caused by a gas pipeline leak, with an estimated 500m section of the pipeline engulfed in flames. The fire is raging intensely, with flames soaring into the air.
The FRD said the incident occurred near a residential area, prompting firefighters and other agencies to evacuate residents in the vicinity.
As of 10.35am, 25 victims of the fire were receiving initial treatment at a nearby temple.
A check by Bernama at the scene found that Health Ministry personnel were attending to the victims.
All the victims sustained burns and had breathing difficulties.
It is understood that five victims have been transferred to Serdang Hospital for further treatment.
According to Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the power supply disruption affecting areas around Subang Jaya due to the fire has been fully restored.
TNB earlier had deployed a technical team to the site to assess the situation, and carried out restoration work as soon as the authorities confirmed that conditions were safe.
Meanwhile, Subang MP Wong Chen also provided updates based on a Smart Selangor Operation Centre (SSOC) report.
He said the fire is at Putra Heights, Puchong, which is outside of his parliamentary constituency but is close.
Fire spreads to nearby kampung
The SSOC report clarified that, according to authorities at the scene, the Petronas petrol station had not caught fire.
“Only the main gas pipeline is burning, and it has been shut off. Firefighters are waiting for the remaining gas to burn out before the fire is fully extinguished,” the report said.
The report said the fire has spread to several houses in the nearby Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru but the exact number of homes affected is unknown.
Meanwhile, the FRD’s operation commander reportedly said seven victims, including two senior citizens, have been rescued from two houses that have caught fire.
SSOC said some victims are reportedly trapped inside their homes, and rescue operations are underway.
Those who have been rescued have been transported to the Dewan Serbaguna Masjid Putra Heights relief centre. Several victims have suffered burns and are awaiting ambulances for medical treatment. The nearby mosque is also assisting the victims.
Petronas working closely with authorities
Meanwhile, Petronas has confirmed that a fire occurred at its main pipeline near Putra Heights at 8.10am today.
It said the affected pipeline has been isolated, and all relevant stakeholders have been informed.
“We are currently working closely with the local authorities to manage the situation, and we will provide additional information in due course as the investigation is still being carried out,” it said in a statement, according to Bernama.
In a separate statement, Petronas also said that the surrounding three retail stations - PS Putra Heights, PS KM2 LDP, and PS Putra Bestari, are not affected, but have been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure.
“Customers may use the following alternatives for their refuelling needs - PS USJ 20, USJ 6, and USJ 9,” it said.
Petronas has assured that the safety of the surrounding community and environment, and the security of the gas supply to the nation, continue to be its utmost priority.
