Is there a Malay divide? There definitely is. There always has been. Except that before, maybe 60 to 70 percent of the Malays were for Umno and the establishment and 30 to 40 percent were for the Malay opposition.

Now the equation has been turned around and Umno cannot claim to represent the Malay majority any more. If Umno cannot purge itself of its feudalistic and racist mindset and reinvent itself it will become totally irrelevant come 2004.

For starters it should sack its president and all his ministers who are also in the Umno Supreme Council. Why? Simply because all of them are tainted and are the cause of this divide. To the common Malay on the street they have no credibility left and reek of moral and fiscal corruption.

The Malays can also see how the Umno government robbed Terengganu of its oil royalties and denied Kelantan development (and these are Malay-majority states). Barisan Nasional is irrelevant here because the MCA president is running around like a lame and mad dragon chasing its tail and the MIC president keeps making pledges and breaking them which even little kids know is wrong. The Malays see two Malay-majority states denied of resources that are rightfully theirs while a handful of cronies is getting away with billions of ringgit which are not theirs.

I would like to ask the ordinary members of Umno (it is no use asking the tainted leaders whose interests are at stake): Is it fair to deny the population of two poor states development while billions of ringgit are squandered to save just a filthy rich handful? No wonder the ordinary Malays are angry.

Barisan Alternatif is right. Umno leaders are calling for Malay unity talks only for their own interest and survival. If Umno leaders are so concerned about Malay unity then they should dissolve Umno and ask the members to join PAS, Keadilan or PRM.

The Chinese and Indians must also stand up and be counted. Do not let your greedy and selfish leaders lie to you again. Throw them into the trash can of history. Embrace your Muslim Malay brothers who have said they will protect you from the racists and bigots.

Let us face the new dawn together. Throw off this tyranny of lies, deceit and injustice before they destroy us. We must act now. They should fear us, not we them. We are the people. They are our thieving servants.

Let Umno talk itself to death about Malay unity.
