Zafrul: My focus is on work, not joining PKR

On the contrary, the investment, trade and industry minister said his focus is on returning to work as usual.

On the contrary, the investment, trade and industry minister said his focus is on returning to work as usual.
This was after a meeting with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi regarding Zafrul's (above) intention to leave the party.
"For now, I have engaged with Zahid and at the same time, I'm refocusing on work," he told reporters after launching Madani Digital Trade at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) in Kuala Lumpur.
Yesterday, Zahid said he advised Zafrul last week not to be hasty in leaving Umno for PKR, considering the latter's position as a minister and the Kota Raja Umno division chief.
This followed rumours about Zafrul contemplating leaving Umno for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's party.
Zafrul today stressed that his decision was not made in haste, but he added that he had accepted Zahid's advice.
"We met to hear opinions and so on. At that time, I discussed with him about my position in the party, and I listened to his advice not to rush, and indeed we did not rush," he said.
In December, Anwar, who is PKR president, confirmed there were discussions within the party about Zafrul joining them.
Anwar reportedly said PKR always opens its door to anyone who can contribute to its struggle.
However, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party would never allow party hopping among members of the federal coalition government.
