Dr Farish A Noor's write-ups in his column The Other Malaysia, on the goings-on in Malaysia, are thought-provoking and should be viewed as a healthy and positive development not only to prod but also to jolt a significant segment of the Malay Muslim populace from their "complacency".

That they are so niggardly and unappreciative of his efforts is besides the point, compared with what tremendous benefits they would have gained if only they took the trouble to ponder and investigate further what Farish is trying to convey, rather than dwell in the bliss of ignorance.

Anyway, lethargy is quite a universal phenomenon, and despite "resistance" (I suppose that is the chief cause for the hate-mail he gets) Farish has to prod on or jolt them from the mental stagnation, despite the adage "where ignorance is bliss, it is folly to be wise".

I am confident that I am not the only one or solitary voice in support of his discourse. What I know for certain is that there are numerous segments of people who acknowledge his crusade in silence.
