I read with interest our former Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker DP Vijandran's admission of his boyish foolishness (sexual misconduct) ([#1]DP Vijandran on women, IT and Tamil schools[/#], Dec 18). I am so glad to note that he has truly repented of his past sins and has started afresh in life. This shows that Vijandran has become a man of integrity. This is the kind of man I respect.

However, my question now is, are all the denials when the matter was brought up lies? The prime minister vehemently denied any wrongdoings, the Attorney-General destroyed the tapes, the opposition was accused of manufacturing falsity and so on.

How much of "Mahathirisms" are Malaysians willing to stomach? Have they become so numb to government lies, that truth does not mean anything any more?
