I'm glad that Zakaria Maria understands Suqiu's appeals and thank him for his support ([#1]As a Muslim, I'm for Suqiu[/#], Dec 23). However, though I'm a Chinese, I will not support Suqiu if it asks the government to cancel the Malay special rights. Our Malay friends are extremely sensitive about this issue and now is not a suitable time to talk about it.

I have a lot of Malay friends and I would not want to lose them because of this "hot issue" which has been played up by the mainstream media, especially Utusan Malaysia and TV3, whose job should be to bring good news and not spread negative news to Malaysians.

Umno (and, by association, Barisan Nasional) is currently out of favour with a majority of Malays and it is trying to regain the latter's support by using tactics that all Chinese can see through. I hope this situation will not deteriorate further as I love this country.
