The government is set to table a bill to restore the Parliament Services Act, which would completely free Parliament from the executive, especially on hiring and expenditure.
This will undo a decision by the Dr Mahathir Mohamad government in 1992 to repeal the Act.
Anwar Ibrahim was finance minister at the time.

An MACC investigator testifying in Najib Abdul Razak's defence made a startling admission in court.
Nasharudin Amir admitted that when an MACC delegation went to Saudi Arabia in 2015 to probe the 1MDB scandal, not much investigating took place.
Instead, he said statements from people they were supposed to interview were prepared beforehand, and investigators just did a cut-and-paste job without asking any additional questions.
No proof was also furnished to prove that the monies that went into Najib's accounts were from Arab royals.
Nasharudin agreed with the prosecutor’s contention that the trip was to "go there, eat, and go back".

Nazri v Akmal
Former (acting) Umno Youth chief Nazri Abdul Aziz had some blunt opinions about his current successor.
Nazri said that Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh only represented one-quarter of Umno, and as such, his views should not be considered representative of both the party and of Malays.
As such, the former US ambassador said that Akmal should be ignored.
The Umno Youth chief, in turn, retorted that he and the wing are not boot lickers like Nazri.
