I refer to Dato' Lee Hwa Beng's letter in which he mentioned that the non-Malays' representation in BN will be even more diluted if all the component parties are merged into one. He also mentioned that the single party will only work if all Malaysians do not identify themselves to their races. Well said.

But first and foremost, has it ever occurred to him that it is the BN that perpetuates racial politics in this country. So please look no further other than himself if most Malaysians still can't get rid of their racial baggage after more than 50 years of independence.

It is a fact that BN can no longer meet the aspirations of non-Malay Malaysians. The dichotomy between Umno and the rest of the BN component parties are simply too wide to have the common ground anymore. Dato' Lee can argue and say all the political correct things he wants, but he can't deny this fact.

He is concerned with the number of non-Malay representations at municipal, state and national levels. But has he ever thought about the effectiveness of those representations? Sadly his primary concern was the number of municipal councillors, exco and cabinet ministers posts, never mind that those representations have contributed to the continued erosion of non-Malays rights to equal citizenship of this country.

I know it is difficult for Malaysians not to identify themselves to their races given the indoctrination and inculcation by BN all these years. But I would prefer for the process of "de-racialisation" to begin now than to continue subscribing to his failed system for the past 50 years.

By the way, the malaise inflicting this country is not just racism. It is incompetence, inapt, irrational, dishonesty and not able to follow through on decisions made. If NEP were carried out with honesty and integrity, I think there are no longer poor Malays in the country. The issue of race would have been much reduced.
