Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has confirmed a fire has broken out at the Tuanku Jaafar Power Plant in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, but assured that the situation is under control.
It said a technical team had been dispatched to the locations to assess the situation and take any necessary action to ensure safety.
“For now, the electricity supply to consumers has not been affected and investigations are underway to identify the cause.
“TNB will continue to monitor developments and will provide the latest information if needed,” it said in a Facebook post.
Earlier, Sinchew Daily reported that the Port Dickson town centre was rocked by an explosion at the power plant at around 8.30pm.
The report quoted unnamed fisherfolk at a nearby pier saying there was a large fire.
However, the fire later subsided and only thick smoke could be observed.
