As a Muslim, I'm for Suqiu
From a Muslim point of view, I see nothing wrong with Suqiu's 17-point appeal in principle. It espouses the causes of justice for all oppressed and downtrodden, not only Chinese, but also Malays, Indians, Orang Asli and others. It is essentially very Islamic.
For those Malays/Muslims who still use (or misuse) of their ethnic identity to enrich themselves at the expenses of Muslims and non-Muslims alike, it is time they repent. It is time to give up Umno's assabiyah ideology of narrow and parachial nationalism.
True Islam rejects racism and nationalism, whether it is Chinese racism or Malay nationalism. God's love, compassion and justice are universal, not particular.
The universal affirmative action that help poor of all races will benefit Malays/Muslims if they are really poor while not neglecting others. But under the assabiyah ideology of special rights, only rich cronies benefit while poor of all races, including Malays/Muslims are marginalised.
Sir, as a Muslim, I am for Suqiu. Let the whole world know about this.
