Bagan DAP attributes meeting failure to absence of Phee brothers
Bagan DAP has cited the absence of former Penang exco member Phee Boon Poh and his brother Boon Chee as one of the reasons why the Parliamentary Liason Committee (PLC) failed to convene its meeting on Dec 15, 2024.
According to DAP Bagan PLC publicity secretary Chee Yeeh Keen, Boon Poh also did not attend the subsequent meeting on Dec 22, which was successfully held with over 50 percent of branches in attendance.

According to DAP Bagan PLC publicity secretary Chee Yeeh Keen, Boon Poh (above) also did not attend the subsequent meeting on Dec 22, which was successfully held with over 50 percent of branches in attendance.
Chee stated that those present at the Dec 22 meeting unanimously declared their full and unwavering support for Lim Guan Eng’s leadership.
“The first meeting on Dec 15, 2024, would have been successfully held if both Boon Poh and his brother Boon Chee had attended.
“Even though Boon Poh also did not attend the subsequent meeting, the PLC easily fulfilled the 50 percent quorum,” Chee said in a statement today.
‘Unwavering support for Guan Eng’
Chee, the Bagan Jermal state assemblyperson and a known staunch supporter of Lim, said that during the Dec 22 meeting, the DAP Bagan PLC, along with its women and youth wings, unanimously approved five resolutions.
Among these resolutions was the continuation of their full and unwavering support for the leadership and unity of the DAP Bagan PLC under Lim.
They also condemned the irresponsible action of “some members”, whom they referred to as “so-called black hands”, for leaking internal party information to the media to undermine Lim’s leadership and tarnish the good image of DAP Bagan PLC.
They further assured the public of their commitment to pursuing sustainable development for the people of Bagan under Lim’s stewardship.
Chee’s statement was issued in response to a Malaysiakini article published yesterday, which suggested that Lim’s political influence has waned since the Penang DAP state elections on Sept 22 last year.
The lack of quorum to convene the Dec 15 meeting was cited as an example of his declining influence.
Lim, who chairs the DAP Bagan PLC, is also the DAP national chairperson.
