  • The duo say the bureau posts given were not significant.

Bersatu Youth is hit with another setback after two of its executive council members quit their bureau positions.

This comes after Meor Naqiuddin Shamsudin resigned from his bureau post on Jan 9.

According to Free Malaysia Today, the duo - Abdul Asis Rishad Khan and Afrizan Jamil resigned as committee members of the Bersatu Youth management bureau.

However, they still retain their exco positions but without a portfolio. Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham appointed them to the posts on Nov 29 last year.

Commenting on the matter, Asis and Afrizan, both from Sabah, said despite Bersatu Youth having three elected exco members from Sabah, the bureau roles given were not significant.

“Placing all three of us in the management bureau, without specific roles, is not proper.

“However, without a portfolio, it will give us more space to serve better and focus our energy on strengthening the party in Sabah to face the upcoming state polls and the 16th general election,” they said in a joint statement.

On Jan 9, Bersatu Youth exco Meor Naqiuddin Shamsudin resigned as the chief of the party’s professional and volunteer bureau, effective Jan 5.

“I have resigned as the chief of Bersatu Youth’s professional and volunteer bureau but will stay on as a Youth exco member without a portfolio due to some disagreement with (Bersatu Youth chief) Hilman Idham,” he was reported as saying.
