Unfair to claim govt ignored royal addendum: Fahmi
Claims that the government had ignored the royal addendum concerning former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s house arrest are unfair, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said today.

The Home Ministry had implemented the pardon commuting Najib’s sentence and fine in the SRC International case in accordance with the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s orders, he told a press conference at the International Regulatory Conference 2025.
“The Home Ministry, especially the Prison Department, has implemented the decree that was equipped with the seal and signature of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“Any matter relating to the said decree arises from the Pardons Board'’s proceedings under Article 42 of the Federal Constitution,” Sinar Harian quoted Fahmi as saying.
Yesterday, the Court of Appeal granted Najib’s appeal to commence a judicial review at the High Court to compel the government to enforce a decree by the previous Agong granting Najib house arrest.
A letter from the Pahang palace was submitted to the court, which confirmed that the addendum was real.
However, the Home Ministry said it could not have enforced the addendum as it was never delivered to them, only instructions on the former premier’s sentence being commuted.
Word of the addendum came after a Pardons Board decision reduced Najib’s original 12-year prison sentence and RM210 million fine to six years and RM50 million in the SRC International corruption case.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said he would leave the matter to the legal process.
“The Court of Appeal’s decision is to remit and ask the High Court to hear the case.
“(Home Minister) Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has explained the process and timeline regarding this issue. So, regarding the case, we will just leave it to the court,” he added.
