Malacca Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh has criticised Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin for allegedly circulating a video that appeared to show him asleep during a state assembly session.

He accused the MP of deploying an agent to discredit the Malacca government.

This morning, Mas Ermieyati uploaded a video on her Facebook page, purportedly showing the chief minister dozing off during the Third Session (Budget) of the Third Term of the 15th Malacca Legislative Assembly.

The video was accompanied by the caption: “Poor YAB… seems to have dozed off. Tired. Last night overtime ya.”

According to the portal Melaka Hari Ini, Rauf revealed that investigations identified the individual recording the video as a special assistant to the Masjid Tanah MP. The individual was subsequently removed from the assembly.

“Suddenly, a video of me supposedly sleeping appears on social media. It turns out an MP sent an agent to monitor what the chief minister was doing,” Rauf said.

“There are far more constructive things for Masjid Tanah to focus on! I have no idea what kind of MP behaves this way.

“If this is the approach to politics - insulting and condemning leaders who are working to improve the state - I urge the people of Malacca to reflect on what truly defines effective leadership,” he stated during his winding-up speech at the assembly session.
