I am amused that there are those who think that the Lunas by-election is an indication that BA stands a chance to form the federal government in four years' time or that BA can deny BN of a two-thirds majority in Parliament.

The next general election is four years away. Four years is a long time in politics. Nobody can predict accurately what can happen in four years. You can only hazard a guess.

The Chinese voters in Lunas knew that they were making a protest vote against BN. They knew that PAS and their partners in BA would not form the state government this time, so voting for Keadilan is not a problem.

But to ask them to vote PAS and their BA partners to form the state or federal government is a different ball game all together.

For the next couple of years, BA needs to show that it can do more than just protest and criticise. It needs to show that it has plans on the country's economy, education, religious freedom, etc.
