I refer to the Malaysiakini letter Medium switch: Razak didn't have legitimacy.

It is a pity that we have intelligent people (otherwise they won't be writing to Malaysiakini) splitting hairs about who is or was responsible for the switch in the medium of instruction for schools from English to Bahasa Kebangsaan/Melayu.

The buck has to stop somewhere and whether you are fighting an emergency (as in May 13) or abusing your powers to show pomp (as in the 50th anniversary Merdeka extravaganza), in feudalistic Malaysia it has to be at the prime minister.

So, whatever the mitigating circumstances, it has to be Abdul Razak who must be held responsible for the medium switch. It does not matter whether he was aware, not aware or just a silent spectator who got done-in by his loyal subordinate.

In the final analysis, it was Umno and Barisan Nasional that created the quagmire that our children have to navigate through today.

We will never get the truth because history is always written by the winners, whether in Parliament or in school textbooks. My advice would be to get registered as a voter and make sure you know who to not vote for.
