The Honourable Prime Minister has said in Parliament that had Suqiu's 'demands' been rejected prior to last year's election, the opposition today would be in power (PM stands by remarks likening Suqiu to 'communists', Dec 11). Now that Mahathir admits it was just a political ploy on the part of BN government to ensure that the Chinese community would back Barisan Nasional, it would surely mean if the general election is called anytime now, we can look forward to a new government!

Surely Malaysians in general and the Chinese community in particular would not pay heed to much of what BN promises since the honourable prime minister himself admits that BN could not accept any demands or views that are contrary to their interest.

It seems to me that every time the good prime minister voices his concern that there might be a repeat of May 13, it is merely a twisted perception on his part removed from reality. Lunas was a clear example.
