China flags upset Malay politicians

A group of China nationals waving their country's flag at a cultural event in Teluk Intan on Thursday has greatly upset several Malay politicians.

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh and Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria are among those who have labelled it an affront to national sovereignty.

The event's organisers have apologised over the incident.

Razman has also tried to implicate Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming over the incident.

However, Nga was in Kuala Lumpur when the incident happened and has lodged a police report against the PAS leader.

Spotlight on GLC boss' bonus

Leaks have cast a spotlight on a top executive at Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad - a GLC under the Prime Minister's Department’s purview - who received a fat bonus despite the company only achieving 42 percent of its KPI.

The executive was given a bonus of three months basic salary, equivalent to RM210,000.

The rest of the company was also given a bonus, but due to the poor key performance indicators, it was called a "special payment" instead.

The leaks also showed that the board of directors - who approved the bonus payouts - also received a bump in their allowances.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the matter would be brought to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's attention.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed the apology - sans admission of guilt - by former premier Najib Abdul Razak over the 1MDB scandal.

Anwar's one-line answer has, in turn, triggered a storm within Pakatan Harapan.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil denied that the upcoming house arrest law is linked to Najib.
