Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has rubbished Perikatan Nasional as “weak” over their lack of a shadow budget.
This is after PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said those who want to see a PN budget should wait for them to form the government and that preparing a shadow budget was not the opposition’s responsibility.
In a Facebook post yesterday, Akmal conceded that it is indeed the government’s responsibility to formulate a budget.
However, he said the public wants to evaluate the opposition’s alternative budget to see which is better.
“When we want to do check and balance, we should have a better proposal, not just to whack (the government) without having alternative ideas.
“Unless, of course, PN doesn’t have an alternative, hence why they have such a mentality. Maybe they want to be a useless opposition forever.
“Weak!” Akmal said.
He added that the opposition in Perlis, Kedah, and Kelantan - referring to the Madani coalition - should not give similar excuses and show that they have better ideas if they want to form the state government in the future.
Budget 2025 is currently being debated in the Dewan Rakyat.
