Selangor gazettes fatwa declaring GISBH as deviant
The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) has confirmed that a fatwa declaring that Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings’ (GISBH) teachings and activities deviate from Islam has been gazetted.
Mais chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said in a statement that the fatwa was approved by the Selangor ruler and was published in the state government gazette on Oct 16.

Mais chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said in a statement that the fatwa was approved by the Selangor ruler and was published in the state government gazette on Oct 16.
“According to the fatwa, beliefs, teachings, understandings, and practices of leaders, followers, employees, or members of GISBH and its networks have elements that deviate from the true teachings of Islam according to Ahli Sunah Waljamaah’s holdings from the aspects of faith and Syariah.
“Based on the fatwa, any Muslim in Selangor is prohibited and forbidden to do charity, to be a follower, to teach, to spread, develop and support GISBH’s understanding, teachings, beliefs or practices and its network which includes any other beliefs, teachings, beliefs or practices which has similarities with this banned GISBH practice,” said Mais in a statement today.
“In accordance with the fatwa as well, any Muslim who has joined, practised, or adheres to an understanding, teaching, belief, or practice which has been banned should immediately repent and ask for forgiveness from Allah.
“The relevant authorities are responsible for carrying out rehabilitation for them,” added Aziz.
He said that the Muslim community in Selangor is advised to respect the gazetted fatwa and not to contradict it.
“Any person who disobeys, violates, or disputes the fatwa which has been gazetted is committing an offence under Paragraph 12(c) Syariah Crimes Enactment (Selangor) 1995.
“In order to carry out the responsibility of recovery as per the gazetted fatwa, Mais together with all relevant state government agencies, has drawn up and mobilised a recovery action plan to GISBH followers, including children and adults.
“Rehabilitation includes protection, guidance, faith recovery including through the Istitabah (repentance) process, as well as counselling,” he said.
Mais also expressed its full support for the voluntary rehabilitation programme offered by the Malaysian government to recent followers or members of GISBH and its network.
“Mais believes that this programme is in line with the fatwa that has been gazetted.
“Thus, we welcome followers or members of GISBH and its network to present themselves voluntarily for the purpose of this rehabilitation,” added Aziz.
He said that Mais and Islamic agencies in Selangor are committed to cooperating and supporting the rehabilitation programme in terms of manpower, finance, facilities, and skills.
