I wish to thank Jacqueline Ann Surin for her[#1] Unfair comment on journalists[/#] (Dec 8), for I too share her discomfort with some of the general statements made in Zakiah Koya's article.

But while Jacqueline can criticise Zakiah's article, can she be equally vocal with the now infamous Utusan Malaysia article on Chinese voters' loyalty?

My point is that the mainstream media in Malaysia practises a lot of abuse - please don't make me list all the government propaganda. The irony is that Zakiah's article gets its credibility from the biased reporting of the mainstream media.

At least, malaysiakini published Jacqueline's letter and what more, placed it at the top of the list! I don't think any of the other "government controlled media" (my perception) would display such courage.

In summary, you cannot pick a few small, good examples to camouflage the open abuse in mainstream media.
