S'gor bans GISBH for practising Aurad Muhammadiah doctrine
The Selangor State Fatwa Committee has outlawed the beliefs held by the Global Ikhwan Services and Businesses Holdings (GISBH) group, which practises the Aurad Muhammadiah doctrine.
According to a Friday sermon text released by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) today, the agency raised the question of whether the its members’ beliefs were similar to those practised by the outlawed al-Arqam group.

“Is GISBH the same as the former al-Arqam, whose beliefs and teachings were banned...

According to a Friday sermon text released by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) today, the agency raised the question of whether the its members’ beliefs were similar to those practised by the outlawed al-Arqam group.
“The GISBH issue is a hot topic.
“Is GISBH the same as the former al-Arqam, whose beliefs and teachings were banned by the Selangor State Fatwa Committee? That is the question.
“Are the teachings in the banned Aurad Muhammadiah book still practised by GISBH followers? The answer is yes, the beliefs and teachings practised by al-Arqam members in the past are also practised by GISBH members.
“Therefore, Muslims in Selangor are prohibited from practising the beliefs and teachings propagated by GISBH,” it said yesterday.
The text will be read in all mosques and surau during Friday prayers throughout Selangor today.
Yesterday, Bernama reported that the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, had approved the decision reached in a Selangor State Fatwa Committee special meeting regarding GISBH.
Fatwa to be gazetted
Selangor Islamic affairs and innovative culture exco Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the state ruler authorised the matter after it was presented by state fatwa committee chairperson Madya Anhar Opir at Istana Bukit Kayangan Shah Alam.

“(The decision of the Fatwa Committee) was presented to the Sultan of Selangor and His Majesty has given his approval.
“Insya-Allah, tomorrow (today) we will inform you a little about the decision during the Friday sermon in mosques and surau throughout Selangor. However, the fatwa (concerning GISBH) must be gazetted first before we make it a law and enforce it,” he said.
The Selangor Friday sermon also emphasised that the Selangor ruler had previously agreed to the prohibition of the al-Arqam organisation.
“His Royal Highness the sultan of Selangor, as the head of Islam in the state, in the past consented to the fatwa banning the beliefs and teachings of the al-Arqam organisation.
“The ban on all its beliefs and teachings was issued by the Selangor State Fatwa Committee through a fatwa gazetted on Feb 4, 1993; Aug 11, 1994; and Dec 21, 2006, and most recently through the fatwa approved by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor on Oct 3, 2024, which is in the process of being gazetted,” it added.
