A PAS division leader has reminded Umno of their previous relationship, claiming that the latter is being abused in its current political marriage with Pakatan Harapan.

Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir recalled the past in the wake of PKR deputy information chief Razeef Rakimin’s scathing response to an Umno leader’s suggestion that Harapan apologise to Umno for casting it in a bad light for decades.
“I am on the outside, and even my ears are ringing,” he said.
“Imagine allies within the same coalition government attacking and making such sharp and hurtful remarks at each other.
“The Mahkota by-election just ended, and several Umno leaders were praising the Harapan-BN alliance, and suddenly, there comes a tight slap,” Roslan (above) added, according to Harakah.
In responding to Umno supreme council member Nur Jazlan Mohamed who raised the apology issue, Razeef had said that Umno was “rotten to the core” and is now undergoing a “cleansing” after joining hands with Harapan, for which it should be grateful.
This episode prompted Roslan to remember how PAS was always cautious about not hurting the feelings of Umno when the two were in Muafakat Nasional.
“Since becoming friends with Harapan, one after another of their friends have been hitting and spitting at Umno.
“Before this, it was DAP in the issue involving (Umno Youth) chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, followed by Amanah in the issue of a unity government in Johor, and now PKR in this issue,” added the Subang division chief.
‘Be careful, friends’
Therefore, Roslan urged his “friends” in Umno to be more careful so that the situation does not deteriorate.
“Friends, think about it before it worsens… We are a race with dignity and pride. Think about it,” he added.
Prior to tying the knot after BN was ousted from power in the 2018 general election, PAS and Umno were sworn enemies for decades and their feud had even divided families.
PAS has not ruled out collaborating with Umno again but its president Abdul Hadi Awang made it clear that it would not happen as long as Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is at the Umno helm.
Ink agreement to ward off clashes
Umno Veterans’ Club secretary Mustapha Yaakub expressed concerns over clashes between component parties of the coalition government, which he said could impact preparations for the 16th general election.
"If this goes on, it could affect strategies for GE16. The veterans are concerned that if this (situation) gets out of control, then the government will not last long.
"We must remember that the (current) cooperation is very fragile. One strong knock and it could smash into smithereens," he said in a statement today.
Mustapha urged for an immediate pause in attacks between coalition government components and proposed an agreement between the parties involved to cease any hostility against one another.
"The BN and Pakatan Harapan leaderships must set out the rules and order all its leaders to follow them.
"DAP leaders must also stop raising issues connected to Islam, the Malay rulers, the Malay language, and the special rights of the Malays, as agreed before the formation of the unity government."
Any dissatisfaction or grievance must be channelled via party leadership, Mustapha added.
Recently, clashes broke out between Akmal and DAP vice-chairperson Teresa Kok over the halal certification issue.
The clashes resulted in Kok vowing not to share the ceramah stage with Akmal for the Mahkota by-election in Johor.
