A flurry of police reports were lodged today over the fracas which occurred at the annual general meeting of troubled MIC investment arm Maika Holdings on Thursday.

One of them was lodged by former MIC deputy president S Subramaniam, 62, at the Brickfields police station in Kuala Lumpur.

In his report, Subramaniam alleged that the meeting was conducted inappropriately and that many shareholders were intimidated by unknown individuals throughout the meeting.

Speaking to reporters later, he urged the media and the police to uncover the "truth" surrounding the eventful meeting.

"I want the police to investigate these matters, particularly the bad elements (present at the meeting). Who are these people? Who arranged for (their presence)? Why did they beat up people?" he said.

Subramaniam was among the many participants in the meeting who claimed to have been roughed up by 'thugs' for posing difficult questions to the company's management during the question-and-answer session.

Lawyer lodges report

Minutes after the meeting commenced, the chair lost control of the noisy floor which eventually erupted into a shouting and shoving match.

Several individuals were reportedly injured in the ensuing fracas but Subramaniam was unhurt.

In his police report, Subramaniam blamed thugs for perpetuating the violence that day.

He also told reporters that he could identify at least one individual involved.

In a separate police report at Brickfields today, lawyer S Nadarajah claimed that he was an assault victim during the fracas.

After the meeting, certain television and print news reports depicted Nadarajah sprawled on the floor in an apparent daze outside the meeting room clutching onto a folder with the Maika Holdings logo. (see photo)

This is the third known police report lodged over the incident.

A previous report was lodged by 60-year-old taxi driver V Shanmugam on the day of the incident.

Shanmugam was left bloodied in the fracas as he suffered a cut on his forehead after being allegedly assaulted.
