Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN), has been allowed to return home.
His aide Sufi Yusoff told Bloomberg that the nonagenarian is now on “home leave”.
However, it is unclear if the former premier, who was taken to the hospital on July 15, had been discharged.
In January, Mahathir, who has a history of heart-related ailments, was admitted for an infection. He spent 53 days in the hospital.
In 2022, the former premier also contracted Covid-19.
On July 10, Mahathir, who became prime minister twice (from 1981-2003 and 2018-2020), celebrated his 99th birthday.
In a voice recording released on his birthday, the former premier said: "I have survived this long, I don't know for how long more, but all my life is dedicated to serving the nation.”
