In celebration of Malaysian Human Rights Day 2007, a conference based on the theme of "Human Rights and Election" will be held on Sept 9 at the Mutiara Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

This conference is aimed to encourage public discourse between citizens as they examine the freedom, fairness, strengths and weaknesses of the existing electoral process.

The conference will also look into the ways in which Malaysia could achieve higher standards of human rights and democracy through the streamlining and revitalizing of the electoral process.

This conference is open to the public, with no charges imposed. Interested persons may register through Suhakam's website (http://www.suhakam.org.my) or by contacting Ahmad Firdaus Abd Shukor (03-26125654 / 26125600, firdaus@suhakam.org.my).
