Prasarana commits to supporting LRT crash victims
Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said it remains steadfast in providing support to those involved in an LRT collision incident three years ago.

Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said it remains steadfast in providing support to those involved in an LRT collision incident three years ago.
The public transport company said this after former transport minister Wee Ka Siong urged government intervention in the lawsuit initiated by one of the victims against the company.
It has so far provided 90 individuals - passengers involved in the mishap - with financial assistance covering medical treatment fees and counselling.
In a statement, it claimed that it has successfully settled claims amicably.
“Soon after the incident, Prasarana reached out to all the passengers involved, offering special financial assistance and counselling.
“The financial assistance extended included, among others, medical expenses and follow-up treatment.
“Of the passengers affected, 90 individuals received financial assistance and several claims have since been amicably resolved,” it said.
Resolution with reasonable terms
Prasarana also said that it is open to receiving solutions with reasonable terms.
It is exploring an end to the issue with its insurer Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd.
“As a transit operator accountable to the public, Prasarana is committed to resolving these matters and will continue to be amenable to proposals of resolution upon reasonable terms,” it said.
Earlier today, Wee urged the government’s intervention in alleged victim Florence Lee’s case as her hearing is only scheduled for 2028, which is in four years.
Lee brought a lawsuit against Prasarana and Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, who she claims are responsible for the crash, which happened because of their negligence and breaches of statutory duty.
In a video posted to his Facebook page, Wee said the matter should be settled out of court.
“As a victim, she is only asking for compensation for the loss of her income and also to pay the cost of treatment, which amounts to RM113,524.08.
“This is a reasonable request,” he said.
On May 24, 2021, two LRT trains on the Kelana Jaya line collided near the KLCC station, resulting in 213 people injured.
Dang Wangi police said 166 people sustained light injuries while another 47 were seriously hurt.
Aside from Lee, eight individuals, claiming to be victims of the crash, are also suing Rapid Rail and Prasarana for alleged negligence over injuries sustained.
