Veteran comedian dies at 73

Veteran comedian Jaafar Onn passed away at the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang at about 11.30am today. He was 73 years old.

His close friend, Salwa Abd Rahman, shared the sad news on social media.

“Jaafar has returned to his maker just now. His body is at the Serdang Hospital,” she said.

Earlier, Jaafar’s adopted son, Mohd Haniff Hashim, informed that the versatile artiste was hospitalised for rectal bleeding.

It is understood that the excessive intake of painkillers was the cause of the actor’s health complications.

His health was previously reported to be deteriorating due to heart ailments and he had been confined to a wheelchair over the last six months.
