On Revathi: Toughest experience in my life

Peter Ooi: I really empathise with this poor lady Revathi. Being forcibly taken away from her dear husband and then trying to force to live as a Muslim would is, in my opinion, the unkindest cut.

Now that she is released, she is still not free yet. She still cannot be reunited with her husband and lead her life as a proper wife or mother to her child. Neither can the husband exercise his right to mould the children according to his values.

I am sure that Islam, being a religion of tolerance and peace, would forbid such injustice. It is time that our leader, the PM in particular, come up with some decisive ideas to overcome problems faced by the likes of Revathi.

Not Blacklisted: The reasoning given by the directors of Ctos is not acceptable by the concept of the law here. Here, you are innocent until proven guilty. As for Ctos, we are guilty until we can prove we are innocent. Ctos must verify all it sources and must write to the affected parties first on why that person should not be on its list. Mistakes and settlements do happen before any suits proceed and there are defaults etc. Ctos has failed in this area of clarification.

If Ctos uses such information to earn money, it should by the same token ensure that its information is updated and correct. There are many cases where Ctos took its own sweet time to clear someone's name, maybe due to administrative works, costs or whatever.

But Ctos owes a duty to those on the list to 'clear' them - they (Ctos) are after all running it as a business. And not submitting its own accounts for years obviously negates the information published by Ctos - if they can't be law-abiding businessmen, how reliable are their information?

I personally feel that Ctos should be sued if it can be proven that one cannot get a loan due to a mistake it made and in its charging a fee. Bank Negara needs to clear the air on regulating credit information companies like Ctos. And I do hope to see Ctos' directors names published to show they are really fair and not favouring anyone.

PT Tan: When the CEO of Ctos said that they could not approach banks for updated financial history, what relevance then is their data?

Half a truth is more dangerous than none at all. Telling the bad part without the good part is not telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Ctos has committed dereliction of purpose and duties and is open to legal action if the whole truth is not told.


On Special ops to weed out thugs in S'wak

MS: Great to hear the IGP wants to put fear into the thugs of Sarawak and Johor but as always, IGP, action is louder than words especially for bad hats who have been around for years and can be short-listed by police in just days.

If there is a godfather protecting them, why not deal with him, too, so that new batches of thugs don't keep cropping up?

And while at it, why not go after the clearly corrupt but hitherto untouched politicians?

We, the public, will walk every step with you if we can see the straight path you take


On Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

AL: Having to read the news and watched the video of the de-facto law minister, I'm rather appalled by current situation that our parliament had to go through and have to put up with. Even if the referred minister does not agree with Lim Kit Siang, or if the title of Opposition Leader has no place in his brain or dictionary, any man of sound mind would not behave like him.

It is also very saddening to learn that the minister is a law graduate. How bizarre for his alma mater to be looked upon as his educator! I would suggest to the minister to carry himself with pride and act according to the expectations that are expected of him.
