Zahid denies 'turmoil' in S'gor village committee appointments
Rural and Regional Development Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied any turmoil in the appointment of 373 members in the Village Development and Security Committee throughout Selangor.
This, according to the deputy prime minister, is because the power to appoint members was under his ministry’s jurisdiction and does not involve the Selangor government.

“There is no crisis (in the appointments).
“They (the appointments) are done by the ministry, and not the state government. They are two different things,” Zahid told a press conference after a working visit to the Civil Defence Forces in Kajang, Selangor, today.
He was responding to questions on updates to the committee appointments in Selangor.
It was earlier reported that Selangor Umno had demanded the state Pakatan Harapan hand over all 373 positions throughout the state.
In return, the party will hand back the 20 state local council posts offered by the state Harapan administration.
The top Harapan-BN leadership in Selangor was then set to discuss the matter.
Zahid said Selangor Umno would discuss the appointments with Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.
“Selangor BN chairperson Megat Zulkarnain Omardin has discussed the matter with state MB (Amirudin), and I spoke about the matter with the prime minister (Anwar Ibrahim), so I’m confident any issue will be resolved soon.”
