I refer to the letter More righteous voices please.

I am amused by Kim Quek's call for more righteous voices. Most of the righteous voices I have read so far are of those who have retired from the various services of the government such as the police, the judiciary or government corporations.

I am amused because what comes to my mind is what did they do when they were there in the service?

It is possible that what they did to instill honesty and integrity in their staff and to promote an effective and efficient organisation may have been undone by those who came after them.

But nevertheless, I have not heard details of their good deeds. But then they are probably barred by the Official Secrets Act from revealing their deeds.

So we will never know whether they are really righteous or self-righteous voices.
