Sir, we are not apathetic!

I refer to the letter Malaysians deserve their government.
Dear Mr Martin,
Welcome to Malaysia, otherwise known as Bolehland!
You are wrong when you say that we get the government we deserve. We deserve better. In our present racist-fascist system, the voice of the people is not allowed to be heard. We are suppressed and oppressed by the powers-that-be. We cannot breathe freely without breaking one of their laws which are designed to straight-jacket us to keep the goons and hoods in power.
You see, sir, it is not in their interest to see democracy mature in this country. In that sense, we are like a banana republic. We are ruled by a cabal of seedy, greedy thieves and robbers who deliberately retard democracy to keep themselves in power with their ill-gotten gains.
They want us to believe that they are for political evolution, not revolution. That, of course, is bovine crap. They fool themselves if they believe that. The way they are taking us is devolution, which means feudalism and in the end, anarchy. In the meanwhile, they wallow in their mediocrity and get filthy rich to boot.
I assure you, sir, we are not apathetic. If you care to surf around, you will find more anti- establishment sites than pro; and if you probe your local friends and acquaintances enough, you will find most of them chafing and suffocating, trying to break out of their straight-jackets.
Whether they (the establishment) like it or not, the day of reckoning is nigh. The centre cannot hold for long - things are breaking apart. I only pray that I will live to see their downfall.
Mr Martin, sir, it is nice to know that you are not just a transient tourist who thinks Malaysia is truly Asia - you take an interest in our local conditions. You can do your little bit to help us mature in nationhood: write and disseminate more. Sometimes, coming from the outside, you can see better than someone from the inside.
But I assure you, we are not apathetic. Things are not what they seem to be. This, after all, is also the land of the shadow-play.
