Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that he is currently on a rest period, as advised by doctors, before returning to duty.
Zahid, who also serves as the rural and regional development minister, shared this development in a Facebook post.
“Alhamdulillah. I would like to thank everyone who prayed for my health after undergoing surgery the other day. As advised by the doctor, I am on a rest period before returning to duty.
“Thank you again to all who have prayed and provided support. May Allah facilitate all affairs and place us all in His mercy and love,” he said.
He also attached a picture of himself smiling. However, Zahid did not provide further details about the type of surgery he underwent.
Last Sunday, Zahid's daughter, Nurul Hidayah, said her father's health condition was good after undergoing a surgical procedure last Thursday.
