Once again Bolehland has added another feather to its cap (hmm ... I wonder if there is any more place left on the cap) with its never-ending litany of screw-ups. Recently, the shuttle van service to the Jalan Duta Court Complex was forced to stop its valuable services of providing cheap, efficient and reliable service to the public and hey, presto! in comes the RapidKL bus. I wondered where the Rapid KL bus was all this while. Anyway, they were a few weeks late. Some officers from the relevant licensing department for commercial vehicles raided the shuttle vans and thus prompted the service to be suspended.

It was revealed that the operator for the shuttle van service had applied for the relevant license but the relevant government department was not keen to assist him from Day One and had refused to give him the application forms too. I wonder why? Now, RapidKL buses are shoved down the public's throat as the one and only means of public transportation to the Jalan Duta Court Complex (other than the taxis). Some taxis are already fleecing customers by charging them above the metered fare readings, sometimes as much as RM5! So who gains and who suffers in the end?

Already, complaints are starting to pour in about the inefficiency of the Rapid KL bus service. It is a known fact that these buses are ineffective in solving the many transportation woes in the Klang Valley. Once again, inefficiency is rewarded at the expense of the paying public and efficiency is sidelined for it is a crime to be efficient in Bolehland.

The shuttle van service was offered at a rate of RM2 for a return trip. This is very much affordable and is very much helpful to the public and litigants who need to be at the Jalan Duta Court Complex. Even the court staff members and the nearby government office workers use this service simply because it is cheap, efficient and reliable. And for once, we had something good going but then again, it was too good to last.

The relevant authorities should look into the efficiency of the shuttle van service and grant them the relevant license to operate. If at all, they should revoke Rapid KL's license for gross inefficiency. But again, who are the authorities concerned protecting? The business partners or the public?

The authorities concerned should reinstate the shuttle van service and approve the license concerned for the sake of the public. After all, that is why the authorities are there for - the public that is. They should not be seen as protecting certain monopolistic business concerns. Their duty is to the public.

The delay in doing so is causing untold misery and hardship to the public as well as other staff members who rely on public transportation to get to Jalan Duta. Ask the public members concerned about what they think about the shuttle van service as compared to RapidKL's service. The answer is obvious.
