Eight more faces have been added to opposition party PKR's supreme council, its de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim announced yesterday.

The appointment was made at supreme council's first meeting after the party polls two weeks ago.

Heading the list are three appointed deputy secretaries-general - Dr Xavier Jayakumar, Abdul Halim M Yusof and Low Chee Cheong, Anwar told a press conference after chairing the three-hour meeting at the party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

PKR Selangor treasurer Tengku Maraziah Tengku Sulaiman was named as the party's new deputy treasurer, while Cheah Kah Peng, Umar Jaffar, S Manikavasagam and Ang Giok Hai have been appointed as the new supreme council members.

Majority of the eight have contested and lost in the recently-concluded party's election.

Few more appointments are expected to be made in the near future as Anwar noted not all the positions in the party hierarchy have been filled.
