A company in Kuala Lumpur claims to be the sole agent for managing sewage in the whole country.

I live in a small town. A few year ago, I paid a deposit of RM150 when the company sent me a letter, thinking that it would guarantee any clearing of an overflowing septic tank in the future. Since then, I keep receiving a monthly bill, often with reminder or warning of pending legal action.

The strange thing is they argue that the monthly payment is for sewage treatment and to ensure an on-call septic tank service. There is no such facility around my town and I have not asked for any service so why all the accumulative debit then?

This is an outright extortion, one would least expect to happen in a nation supposedly ruled by law. I wonder how my fellow country folks could tolerate such nuisance, if not nonsense.
