Muhyiddin acquitted

The Kuala Lumpur High Court allowed Muhyiddin Yassin’s bid to quash four abuse of power charges levelled against him in relation to Jana Wibawa.

The judge ruled that the charges were defective due to a lack of details on the alleged crime.

The judge also acquitted Muhyiddin of the four charges.

The prosecution will be appealing the decision.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin is still facing three charges of money laundering over the same case.

Najib Abdul Razak’s legal team is trying to link former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz to fugitive businessperson Jho Low.

Lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah implied that Low had even cooked a pasta meal for Zeti and her family.

Zeti denied having ever met the alleged 1MDB mastermind or having tasted his cooking.

Zeti also denied knowledge that her husband’s company in Singapore was probed for 1MDB-linked transactions.

Selangor MB post

Selangor has yet to swear in a new menteri besar following Saturday’s six state elections.

It is the only state that has not done so.

Part of the reason was because state monarch Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was abroad for medical treatment and only returned on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had pledged that caretaker menteri besar Amirudin Shari would get a second term.

Kedah’s Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Terengganu’s Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Negeri Sembilan’s Aminuddin Harun, and Penang’s Chow Kon Yeow have all been sworn in for another term in office.

Meanwhile, PAS’ Mohd Nassuruddin Daud has been sworn in as the new Kelantan menteri besar as part of state government reshuffle.
