"If we still insist that DAP is 'Chinese', we must see whether DAP listens to us, or we listen to DAP today. If we listen to DAP, M Kulasegaran, Lim Guan Eng, and Gobind Singh Deo will be ministers.
"The one who decides who from DAP becomes a minister is the prime minister, a Malay," Nazri said when met at a ceramah session attended by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at Ukay Perdana in Ampang on Sunday night.
Umno/BN is working with Pakatan Harapan at the federal level for the first time in history. This came after no party attained the simple majority to form the government after the 15th general election.
BN, which attained the lowest number of seats in its long-spanning political history, decided to work with Harapan, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah to form a coalition government.
The upcoming six state elections would be the first polls Harapan and BN will be contesting as allies.
Meanwhile, Nazri said the BN would struggle to attract non-Malay support if they depended on MCA and MIC.
"Last time, Umno did not work with DAP, but like it or not, now we must accept DAP as representing non-Malay interests.
"As long as we cradle (gendong) MCA and MIC, we will not get non-Malay support," said the former Padang Rengas MP.
