Having read the article titled 'MIC wants young and dedicated leaders' which was published on May 10, 2007, I feel impelled to share my views on this issue and also MIC's political ideology and leadership substance as a race based political party in multiethnic Malaysia.

MIC 's credibility as a political force to champion the cause of the Malaysian Indian well being has eroded since Malaysia achieved its independence.

Today, MIC is perceived as a helpless appendage of Umno-led BN. Its prolonged and protracted over-dependence on Umno for its power and survival, has degenerated MIC into a "just follow " party, with no intrinsic political ideology or comprehensive growth driven strategy.

It seems more like a political drone, with a blind loyal culture, supporting Umno for its own survival. Plagued with the crisis and confusion of stale leadership, MIC leaders are more concerned on how to cling on to power than to develop a progressive organizational ideology and culture.

Other attending evils such a political gangsterism, autocracy without virtue, avarice and "ampuism" has corrupted the organizational culture of MIC.

Today MIC is bankrupt of basic ideas to create a political ideology which can capture the imagination of the Malaysian's especially those of Indian origin.

Support is not voluntarily secured form the people. On the contrary, it is extracted using the kind of mafia, low grade fear tactics, which was profoundly displayed in the recent Ijok by-election.

Morally MIC is pitiful, ingrained political treachery has weakened the party, thus lacking in substance and virtue.

There is hardly any heroism in what it does. Even audience for their programmes has to be hired or bought.

MIC is surviving on "mafia politics" diametrically opposite and in contrast to the great teachings of the Tamil Dravidian holy book the Thirukkural which in no uncertain terms calls for politics of the highest virtue.

These are among the many reasons why MIC's future is bleak, because sooner or later as the people become well informed, they will discard the party because it serves no good purpose for the development of the Malaysian Indians.
