PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s constant harping on race and religion has given the impression that Perikatan Nasional would alienate the non-Malays.
However, PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin argued that the coalition is colour-blind and would not leverage the “3R” (race, religion and royalty) for the upcoming elections in six states.
The former premier said the coalition would focus on core issues affecting Malaysians of all races and faiths.
"It is not about race, religion… we treat all Malaysians fairly.
"The (main) concern is how do we address the issues we are facing - inflation, cost of living, rising costs of goods and services, helping out businesses,” he added.
Earlier this month, the PN chairperson called on voters to treat the polls as a referendum against the coalition government and to vent their frustration through the ballots.

Umno man stirs hornets’ nest
MCA and MIC unleashed their stingers on Umno supreme council member Lokman Adam after he described the BN component parties as political deadweights.
MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker accused him of behaving like “DAP’s spokesperson” and likened his “biawak hidup” Malay expression to how DAP used to brand MCA as Umno’s “running dog” in the past.
The term “biawak hidup” is used to describe those who are a burden. Lokman pointed out that MCA and MIC had been riding on Umno’s coattails since the 2008 general election.
On the other hand, MIC information chief R Thinalan challenged Lokman to put forward a resolution to expel the party from BN.
“If MIC is such a burden (to BN), then, by all means, talk to the Umno-BN president (Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) and bring forward a motion to kick MIC out of the coalition,” he said.

Making 'green' waves
