MCA president Wee Ka Siong has called on the people to "move on" from the decades-long political rivalry between BN and Pakatan Harapan.
“GE15 has ended and so is the political battle. Most importantly, we should move on (to matters like) how are we going to build the country post-GE15?” he said during his speech at the national unity government convention at the Putra World Trade Centre today.
The Ayer Hitam MP added that while BN and Harapan used to “lawan” (fight) and now they are “kawan” (friends), what matters most is that the government continues to “tawan” (capture) the hearts of the people.
In his speech right after, DAP deputy chairperson Gobind Singh Deo echoed Wee’s sentiments.
He said the current government has managed to return the people’s confidence in the administration again after years of political instability.
Gobind added that if this cooperation continued to persist, it could transcend the five-year government term limit.
“If we focus on the objective, we don’t have to just win for five years. We would want to continue winning.
“I am confident that this government is not just for five years but for future general elections as well,” he said.
